Aberteifi / Cardigan The castle changed hands numerous times between Norman and Welsh, but it’s significance is even more so since it is the birth place of the Eisteddfod under the leadership of Rhys ap Gruffydd, Lord Rhys. It is an ancient village – the bridge is around 200 years old, the mill is from the 17th century and the local pub is from the 16th century. Cenarth is also known as one of the last places for coracle fishing. There is a Coracle Centre on the banks of the river where this ancient art of coracle making can be traced, you may also visit the old mill here. Following the signs for Abercych, follow signs for ‘Caws Cenarth Cheese’ - a popular, tasty cheese. Here you can see the production of the cheese and have a taste. It is a very busy place during the summer period, but a perfect place to arrange boat trips to visit the local coastline and to see local wildlife including dolphins, porpoises and seals - www.new-quay.com/surveyboat.htm Following the road towards New Quay, there is an interesting and different museum. By following the signs off of the main road you will come across the Honey Farm. Here you can follow the journey of the bee to create delicious honey.
